Did they also discuss ways to make the cities float ?
Except for Zeppelin-like gas filled bags I don't see a way it could be
done with contemporary technology.

Yes, but I don't remember all the details, and I didn't take notes (not realizing the depth of the presentation was to have). But more or less what The_Beast said I have vague recollections as being presented.
