Ohhhhh.  In the game I said "No" by mistake, but I would have thought a p-torp
would kill 1D6 fighters.

The other question I had right away was using a beam-3 as anti-fighter.
By your p-torp example then a beam 3 would kill only 1 fighter no matter
what range it hit at?
