Wouldn't "unexplored", "undiscovered", etc. be better
than "closed"? Closed sounds like a wormhole that has
collapsed or is no longer accessible as opposed to one
that has yet to be found.

I think this is using Starfire terminology. Wormholes that can be
detectable from only one end are 'closed', if memory serves me right.
