I''m leaning towards rings and decals.
Otherwise you have to cut a hole in the wall. This way you glue
it in. paint, and apply th decal.

How about a two-layered "sandwich" of card or plastic,
with spacers between, for the panel with the iris in it - with the
hole for the valve cut out; then a square piece that drops between the
layers with the valve itself printed/decaled onto both sides so that
it is visible through the hole when inserted. Valve closed: put this
piece in place; valve open: lift it out.

(Or, Jon T., if you are listening, if you feel like bashing up a nice
circular iris valve
closed and open, I might be convinced to part with some $$$)
And as someone pointed out, I was talking about Dwarven Forge. Fantasy
Forge is another
bunch of guys. I didn't realize they only had one iris in their sci-fi
line. I've *seen*
some really nice sci fi corridors that I *know* had sci-fi doors (now
that I meditate on
it, no round iris valves). But I forget who made them, but I'm almost
sure it was someone
british, maybe Ainsty.
