think the SAW/SSW is going to stick around in one form or another. As
the rifle has improved so has the MG. The M60 has evolved into the
M240B. This is a more accurate weapon and has a higher rate of fire. The
SAW/SSW is there to provide an over whelming volumeĀ  of fire. It just
makes sense to continue to develop these weapons.
