nks! I thought it was probably a basecoat, but it looked very much like
the color of some aftermarket resin parts I would buy for 1:35 scale
tanks (when I did that sort of thing).

They are all metal, and the photos on the store are of actual metal
castings sprayed with a colour basecoat (usually grey, sand or GW's
Ogre Flesh, which I got several large cans of when it was out as a
limited-edition trial and which makes a great olive-drab base colour
that seems to photograph quite well). We basecoat spray up the
assembled models for the catalogue photos because I think it shows
the shapes and details much better than an unpainted casting, but is
clearer than a fully painted mini.
