Well, it had to have been used SOMEWHERE before......  ;-)

Yes, pronunciation is "icks" (or more properly "icksss"...) - it's a 
name I've had floating around in my head for years, waiting for a 
chance to use it. It's a "humanised" representation of a <click> 
hissss sound from their native speech, which comprises a series of 
clicks, clacks, hisses and whistles (my guess is that it would be 
rather hard to make human speech sounds through insectoid mandibles!).
