I always wondered why a lot of the commercial PDFs I get hold of was in
8.25x11.  It certainly doesn't help that the default acrobat settings
still want to reduce it to 95% when printing on A4 when it fits very
well (with less white space) at 100% (I changed my defaults long ago).

Then there is WotC's SW Dawn of Defiance modules which have been PDF'd
in the same format as the rulebook of approx W9"xL8" 'coffee table'
size; impossible to print at 100% and still have page numbers visible
with a decent font size.
