Yes you can't fly from any hex to any hex but you can take any route to
get
to a planet.
We have previously played with defined maps containing hyperspace
corridors.
I'd consider this a much more nodal map.
We also did campaigns where peopel explored the map and generated
corridors
and planets and other features. The problem with this was that the
players
ended up with unequal exonomies before the main battle pahse and
unllucky
players got knocked about by the ones that had been lucky in the
exploration.
Realistic to have power at different strengths but not very fair.
