First attempt -- I used some earring backs which were clear plastic,
looked
like:

:::|

where the ::: is the "handle" and the | is a clear plastic disk. It's
just
big enough to support the miniature without it tipping over and I had a
bunch on-hand from a Victorian Sci-Fi project where I used the disks as
propellers.

But my latest attempt (untried, as yet) -- is to use plain metal
thumb-tacks. This has the added advantage of being magnetic -- strip of
magnet in the bottom of the box and this will hold -- hopefully. I have
the
parts but I haven't tried this yet.
