I rather like the idea of the SV *being* the ships, instead of seperate
entities. SV start out as "fighters", and if they survive long enough
they
grow up into SuperDreads!

It would make them totally different mentally; they'd have limited use
for
terrestrial planets, and might snack on comet cores or the atmospheres
of
gas giants.

And somewhere out in the dark between the stars, you might, if you're
very, very unlucky, run across the coasting, millenia-old hulks of
sessile
SV, grown so massive they make SDNs look like frigates.

And of course, it gives us the grand backstory of "Who created the SV,
anyway?".
