My first experience with Stargrunt came after the usual suspects. 
We first tried 40K ... too expensive and unrealistic ... then came 
Warzone ... nice, but prone to abuse in the gamers hands. Stargrunt 
was next, but we didn't miss a beat buying new figures since all our 
old stuff worked just fine.

As for cheap figures, you can't beat the clearance racks at Wal-
Mart. One friend of mine bought a military playset with buildings, 
vehicles and about 25 figures, enough for a platoon for less than 
$10.
