I still haven't found a picture on the web.

But a week's summary on German TV today showed a picture of the whole
square. Considerably more people than on the above picture, but only on
the
inner sections (streets are empty) and not at all densely packed.

Definitely much less than, say, today at the Pope's mass in Rome.
