Don't laugh too hard - such a conflict might be viewed
by nationalists in those countries as the perfect
opportunity to finally sever ties with England while
she is busy with other matters. That also throws a
monkey wrench in the works when Scots/Welsh/Northern
Irish army units suddenly have to decide on loyalty
(again shades of 1860's USA).

It seems that from a background POV there might be up
to 4 groups of nations in such a conflict - the
separatists like England, Unionists, such as France
perhaps, as well as those who sympathize with England
but don't want to get involved, and those who believe
in the EU, but not strongly enough to fight over it....
