Subject: [FMA] Odds spreadsheet

I've put together an Excel95 spreadsheet which will:
a. tell you the number of combinations that result in each possible
score
for a few different sets of dice (that is, for 1d4, there's one way to
get
a score of 3; for 2d4, there are two ways (2+1 or 1+2)). These are not
calculated, just a list of different combinations I've worked out so you
can copy&paste them for step b

b. Lets you put in those combinations for attack die and defense die to
see
what your chances are (for example, a d20 attacking 3d6 has a .475
chance
of beating the defender)

c. Lets you put in the probabilities for up to 4 dice so you can see
your
chances of a complete miss, a suppression, or a major hit. For
instance,
if you have a d12 defender and a d6, d12, d10 and d10 for the attacker,
your chance of a complete miss is 16.8%, one hit is 38.7, two is 32.0,
three is 11.2 and hits on all four is 1.3% (totals may not add up to
100%
due to rounding)

The spreadsheet does not correct for people who exert some unexplained
influence over the dice, so Indy, Beth and Aaron should only use it to
see
how odd their dierolling really is. :-)

At some point (probably late tonight, US East Coast time) it will be
posted
to http://quixnet.net/~deboe on the Links & Resources page
