Roadkill (some noise to make up for all the fighter signal)

Someone was talking about calling people to
recover road kill. Out here, the Jungle Telegraph
is faster than the cops. Woman hit a deer about
10 miles from my place. Before the cops had
arrived on scene (someone had stopped to see
how she and her husband were doing in their
written off mini van and called), a car pulled up.
Someone hopped out, made a phone call, and
minutes later a 4x4 pulled up, some guys
hopped out, tossed the carcas in the 4x4, and
presto, disappearing venison! By the time the
cops arrived, the deer was long long gone. No
messy cleanup.

Of course, some animals you'd want to avoid
touching for fear of various lovely viral or
bacterial infections, but deer (unless there is a
warning otherwise) are pretty safe and deer
meat is good, as are moose and bear, if you
like flavour (they're all pretty strong).
