Subject: [FT] New SM type - Kinetic Kill missiles (longish)

Inspired by the Andromeda thread:

Kinetic Kill salvo missile (KKSM)

These salvo missiles rely on pure kinetic energy to damage the target,
like K-gun shells, but bigger, slightly slower, and self-propelled.

Unlike normal salvo missiles, these are direct fired during Phase 9)
Ships fire, and they roll to hit just like K-guns.

Two proposed ways to handle these:

Option 1

Make a single roll to hit as a K-gun.
Roll 1D6 to determine number that hits.
Each KKSM that hits inflicts 2 points of damage, treated like K-gun
damage (1 to armour, 1 penetrates)

Thats for a standard size KKSM salvo (2 MASS of magazine)

A larger version, the heavy KKSM (H-KKSM) is the size of a ER-SM (3
MASS) does 3 DP per hit, 1 to armour & 2 penetrating.

Option 2

Treat each KKSM as three one-shot K-2s (3 1-shot K-3s if H-KKSM)

Additionally, there is the defensive KKSM,(D-KKSM) which acts like a
AFHAWKS, but with different PSB.

As an option, kinetic point defence systems (Scatterguns & D-KKSM) can
attempt to deflect KKSMs (if available - normal K-gun shells are too
fast
to intercept) - roll as normal PDS vs. option 1, (count H-KKSMs as
heavy), roll as 'K-1 in PDS mode' vs. option 2.

Comments?

Charles
