Actually, Jon will probably clarify, but this is what I got from his 
original post:

It seems to me that the animals are probably cared for on the farm and
NOT 
eaten.	By buying a 1/6 share in Gilly's "Adoption,"  I'm assuming John 
donate(s/d) funds to the farm for Gilly's care, and in part gets to view

Gilly as partly "His" pig, not his lunch. ;-)
