Asteroid Fields, Planetoid Belts, and the like.

Edge of System can occur above the plane of the 
ecliptic, therefor any travel would avoid 'hazard
areas' as completely unnecessary risk to the ship.

Picking up or running support cargo to a mining 
operation (scenario specific) is about the only
way to justify any asteroid belt operation.
