Hmm. I live in Northern Germany. My impression is that sight-lines of
between 500 m and 1 Km are not rare. There certainly are lots of small
and
medium-sited woods, low hills and towns. But for close terrain, you want
to
go to the 'Mittelgebirge', the mountainous and usually wooded areas in
central Germany.
