I recall way back in jr. high, upon saying something about looking for a
job,  having people who didn't know me well suggest union work, which,

course, required age 18. I wasn't physically or emotionally mature, just
had that way of speaking. Put me in situations for which I was totally
unprepared.

By most of our estimations, damn lucky. Sixteen wasn't all that good for
me; many of the years to follow, though, have been golden. My 20 yr old
daughter would sure like to give it another go.
