G'day,
>Any info about SG2 would be appreciated.
It's a super fun squad level game (we usually play with about 5 or 6
squads
aside with 5 to 9 figs per squad). You can use any 25mm modern/scifi you
like - though its hard to sensibly assign weaponry to some of the really
outrageous Necromunda stuff. Actually you could pretty much use anything
with a gun/weapon if you wanted, I'm very tempted to march on some
Egyptians and call them Jafah (spelling??? you know the Stargate badies)
in
the near future, just for a giggle ;)
Its quick to learn and it doesn't really matter if you don't hammer down
all the rules in one go, its still fun and you'll pick them up fast
enough.
Squad quality and confidence are marked with chits, as are suppressions
injuries etc (i.e. little if any book keeping necessary). It uses a
sliding
dice system rather than multiple D6 (so instead of getting a +1 to the
roll
you step up a die type from D8 to D10 etc) - very cool!
The only warnings I'd give are that the rules aren't always in the most
logical order, but Allan's fine index has sorted that and I'd avoid too
many vehicles and concentrate more on foot soldiers, with LOTS of
terrain.
Having absolutely no military experience I'd have to say it gives the
impression that it gets it right and the guys I know that do have
military
experience swear by it. There's one guy here who is more of a DS nut,
but
after he got back from Timor and saw us playing you could just see the
"I
must get" cogs ticking over in his head ;)
Hope that helps
Beth
