This a leopard and not a cheetah? I'm surprised by the term ultra fast
in relation to leopards because what does that leave to describe
cheetah's speed? Although Leopards *are* extremely _quick_ and
powerful.
And Cheetahs are not, IIRC Asian but African Veldt dwellers. Just
curious about clarifying the creature under discussion.

Well, the neat thing about FT is that it really DOESN'T have a scale.
Jon very
particularly did not include one. I got thinking about the
multi-kilometre
long Culture vessels and thought that you could actually do a game where
a
whole solar system DOES fit on one table. Technically 1 MU in FT could
be a
light year if you wanted it to be. Assume a weapon working over 6 light
years,
maximum range. It COULD be thought of as a beam weapon over 36" with 1"
equal
to 1/6 a light year. As long as weapon effects are in about the same
PROPORTION to possible distances moved, it should be feasible.
I seem to remember, though, that the Idirans fought at a different
"scale" at
the beginning of "Consider Phlebas". I thought they might be feasible.
Still, it would be interesting to see if the game could be stretched in
order
to handle the Culture...
