I've had to put sculpting on hold for school for the last few months,
but hopefully you'll be seeing more Swiss designs early next year!

I think the accepted wisdom was that the Irish were in the FSE, if
anywhere.
This was discussed, mmm, about a year ago.

I am quite glad to see this thread start as I am also very interested
in this subject. I have been kicking ideas around, but keep getting
stalled on what is actually a background issue. By background I mean
putting a SG platoon into a setting that makes sense, even if the other
platoons, companies, etc are never a direct part of the campaign.

My problem goes something like this; A platoon is too small a unit to
be totally independent. So, it needs to be part of a larger
organization. But, how big an organization is going to be sent to some
distant planet? Or, to put it another way, what is the smallest level
of organization that could be put out there on its own and be
considered more or less a self contained expeditionary force?

Hi all, anyone running any games at Cold Wars 2001? If you can somehow
make
some analogy between your scenario and the opening of the American War
of
Independence I can make sure it gets special notice on the official
ColdWars.org web page.	I am the web master this year and I am currently
building the site as we speak and it just occurred to me that I an
fairly
unscrupulous and would use this position of power to further my own
interests! Hheheheh, Muhurahahahahahahaa! Power! Power!!!

Ahem, I hate it when I get spittle all over the inside of my black
rebreather helm...

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all lead soldiers are
cast
equal; that they are endowed by their Sculptor with certain inalienable
rights;
that among these, are lead, line of sight, and the pursuit of routing
troops."

(by the way if you can tune the above mis-quote to make it funnier
please
let me know, I am sneaking it onto the website.)

FSE? I don't recall this discussion (which is not to say that it

Hi all you manga-heads out there.

I know that this has been covered extensively in the past, but I'm
looking for recommendations.

I'm looking for sometime with rocking good space battles with cool
looking ships and good animation. Movie format preferred, but I can
deal with episodic stuff if it's worth it ;-)

Since this HAS been hashed out before, please send replies OFF-LIST.

...unless it's something that you don't think has come up before.

Thanx in advance,
Schoon

This Year's Theme

Cold Wars 2001's theme is The American War of Independence up through
the
end of 1776. Historical scenarios like Battle Road, Bunker Hill, Trenton
and
others will be in theme. Skirmishes that lead to the start of
hostilities
will also be within theme.

Hope this helps. --Peter

I have created an index for Stargrunt II.

I was maybe a little optimistic when I said that I was about half way to
completing an index because of the the work done on my advanced rules
summary.
In fact, I ended up going back and creating an index straight from the
rulebook. It took longer than expected, but the results are more
accurate.

The index is extensive. Actually, it's excessive! On 8 1/2" by 11" paper
in 8
point type it comes out to 9 pages. This is 2.5 to 5 times as big as you
would
expect for a rulebook this size. I know there is a fair bit of
duplication,
but I decided to keep it in to see if it's more useful this way.
Besides, I
don't have to worry about duplication cost. If it turns out to be too
big, I
will shrink it. If everyone likes it at its current size, I'll keep it.

The index is found on my SG2 pages:

http://www.vex.net/~agoodall/sg2.htm

Click on the "Stargrunt II Index" link on the left. The index is
available in
two formats: Microsoft Word 97 and rich text format. I will be adding an
Adobe
Acrobat (PDF) file soon.

Obviously with a project like this, I've been so immersed in it that I'm
not a
good judge of it. I would like to hear from anyone who uses this index.
If you
find it works great, I'd like to hear it. If you find errors or
omissions, I
especially want to hear about it. I also want to hear if you search for
something and the index doesn't have it listed where you would think it
should
be listed.

Any and all reasonable suggestions and requests will be considered for
incorporation into the index.

Try the Dec99 archives, I'm reasonably sure it's in there. We were
discussing the Major Powers and the associated GNP. I'd done the
totals but left a few nations out of the blocs (eg Turkey--FSE or IF?
Republic of China--OU or ESU?) and I seem to recall that we talked
about Ireland being FSE.

I've glanced through it in a cursory way - looks very complete. Though
I've not used it in-game yet, I'd like to offer a really big Thank You
for
the effort put into this.
