	The article is re-printed in the (sadly out of
	print) book A STEP FARTHER OUT by Jerry Pournelle.

	The idea was to make a plausible stardrive that would
	allow space battles.

	The jump points one sees in STARFIRE are probably
	"borrowed" from the Alderson drive.
