Well, hell, what do you expect? If the non-technerd guys who make WAR
films 
have a hard time getting ground combat right, how do you expect the
SciFi 
guys, who already have a hard time getting SPACE combat right, to do any

better?

Not too many
other good sci-fi combat segments I can think of (not counting some
chunks
out of B5). Many bad ones (Moon 44 leaps to mind, as does pretty much
any
Imperial Stormtrooper appearance).
