plus, if you're living in the Tuffleyverse or the Trekverse, an FTL
drive
gives you improved insystem speed as well - not in battle, but
operationally; you can jump around a system much faster than you can
thrust around it. now, you might say that a full-blown FTL drive is too
expensive to justify if you're just using it for insystem travel (a bit
like buying a BMW to nip down the shops in), but mix in the fact that it
gives you a multirole capability and it looks more attractive.
