Near Band IR are easy to fox. Use a certain pattern material and conceal

your position in thick foliage. Binoculars are great, you just use good
camo. Thermal imagers are succeptable to hot smoke and other obscurants.

A tank that has a good cooling system and that has been cold for a day
will show up as ambient on thermals, especially if they have a power
plant that doesn't give off much heat. One could also conceivably build
into the tank the signature of some other vehicle.
