I played around with the idea.	I bought a piece of sheet metal and a
cheapo
poster frame so I could hang it on the wall.  I sandwiched the Starfire
Tactical
map in between them and used small magnets with labels to denote the
various
ships in our fleets.

I used this wall map to manage ships that were off the main game table. 
We
were trying to simulate "wet navy" carrier situations.	Our carriers
avoided
the fight,
sitting way off the board launching fighters.  It worked pretty well.
