CF & crew numbers

I'm wanting to know how one figures the number of crew for FT/MT ships.

How does this relate to CrewFactors [CF]?

>From what I can see it's just one crew per mass of vessel 
  and then one boarder per DamagePoint [DP]  
     then these become BoardingFactors [BF]
