Big Lots, The Closeout Store, has toy spaceships, about 1 to 2" long
each,
3 different ships in a package, manufactured by Soma International in
Hong
Kong.  They don't have the detail of The Real Thing, of course, but at
$.99/pack (and then reduced, at the store I visited, to $.50) they look
pretty good...$10 can either buy me one really nice dreadnought or 60
servicable ships....They look like styrene--not polyethylene--and should
therefore be paintable and glue-able.
Same manufacturer has soldier figures in what looks like 15mm scale
(more
or less).
