pbem gauntlet

Someone recommended FT to me, and I've bought the books...now I need to
play the game (for the first time).  I'd rather use pbem than try to
arrange my schedule to fit in a full game in one night. Is there a set
of
conventions for FT pbem?  And would anyone care to face off on a field
of
