Because that's where the ship's going? If the goods are in a container
that container 
probably goes (first) to wherever the most cargo on the ship wants to go
to. GZG don't 
have any controls on international shipping schedules. And if the next
ship to say New 
York doesn't leave until a week later, whose to choose?

If you accept that air freighting them would make the price
unacceptable, this is the only 
way. The ship they are on is (hopefully) the first available ship
heading to North America 
with space, Can't ask much more than that.  

I Of course, if you were a /real/ obsessive you'd already have arranged
a redeye 
economy class flight to come over and get one by hand :).
