FT Ship Designations

Here's an alternative.	My buddy sez:

According to the "official" Full Thrust background, the US goes to heck
in
a handbasket shortly after the first female President is assassinated.
Then
for some reason, we threw the Constitution out the window, and a
military
lead government takes over, but has to call in British and Canadian
troops
to help restore order. Next, a leap is made from a US military
government
to status as a dominion of the British crown, under a lord governor. And
yes,
they make a big deal about how the British monarch splits his time
(equally) residing in palaces located in England, Ontario, Vermont, and
the NAC's
largest colony on some other planet.

Since the above is silly to the extreme, during the campaign I ran a
while
back, I used my own slightly less silly version of events that had both
HMS
and USS ship designations. This assumed an NAC government where the "C"

actually stood for confederation, something like our Articles of
Confederation which existed before the Constitution was written. Under
the A of C, the US military consisted of the sum of the state militias.
Under the NAC in my campaign, each member provided its share of ships,
USS if from the US, and HMS if from Britain or Canada. >>
