I actually thought 1st edition Traveller predated SW by just a little,
or
at least came out round about the same time (ie: too close to have
started
development of an entire game after the film), but maybe that's just my
memory playing up.

BTW, I always assumed one of the major influences on Traveller was Poul
Anderson's Polesotechnic League series - the one single illustration in
the
original Traveller 3-book set WAS Nicholas Van Rijn, after all... :)
