Ogres in DSII

Subject: Ogres in DSII

I had something of a lucky break today--I managed to discover a
store with a nice little handfull of Ral Partha Ogre minis, all at 75%
off!
2 Mark 5 Ogres, a Fencer, a pair of Combine Missile tanks, and a couple
of
Howitzers. They are all, apparently, intact (with the exception of one
Mark
5, which is missing the secondary batteries. But that'w what plastic
tubing
is for, right?). But anyway, this got me thinking about Ogres in DSII.
The
whole reason that I first purchased the game was because the Ogre
Miniatures
game was, while both fun and easy, less than satisfactory. My largest
force, the Red Death, is about 50% Ogre Combine minis, and 50% GW
Eldar....
Please don't ask why; it made sense at the time, I swear! I converted
most
of the figs to DSII, but was never able to come up with an Ogre design
that
I considered satisfactory. I used the modular design rules, and decided
that, rules or no, loss of a single tread module would not destroy the
entire Ogre. Lose one, go from Fast tracked to Slow. Lose two, go from
Slow tracked to immobile. Lose three, and you undoubtably have other
things
to worry about beyond the fact that you are not moving. The problem was
the
weapons. There is no way to really shoehorn the proper amount of guns
into
the figure, no matter how I juggled the systems. I ended up defining
the
secondary batteries as equivalent to a pair of RAM artillery units. I'd
post the design, but I managed to lose it somewhere over the past year.
No
great loss, in any case.... Has anyone else done an adaptation of an
Ogre
to DSII? One that actually works? I'd love to see it, if so.
