Well...

That does not seem to be the way they are behaving. My screening  
fighters failed to engage, from what I can tell.

With additional experience in FTJava fighters, I would very, very  
much like the opportunity to re-target fighters in the combat turn.  
Targets almost always change slightly or significantly after the  
movement turn, and it would be extremely valuable to target that  
incoming fighter swarm you didn't expect, or jump on that juicy low  
PDS ship instead of that bristling escort.

Adding a re-targeting option would make FTJ more like current FT2.5  
rules.
