Re: An idea for a Final Battle for Sol

I have thought of along the same lines as you.
I designed several Siege of Sol battles, and have a few more
partially assembled.

SoS 1-3 are done and in the player signup pages.

The remaining SoS games I had planned and the stage they're in:

SoS-4: Supply Run (2-8 players)
NAC+ESU (Strange Bedfellows) and a few heavy freighters try to break
into Sol system with relief supplies.
They arrive at hyper limit to meet a swarm of blockading small KV units.
NAC+ESU BC or BB led Cruiser/CE group escorting 3-4 large freighters
~NPV 1500 points of warships. Protect freighters until they can make
the next hop insystem. Frieghters may jump (direction 9) on Turn 8.
Freighters start near center, speed 8, Escorts arrayed around them in
diamond pattern.
KV NPV ~1500 of DD and smaller. Destroy all freighters (warships are a
bonus). Come in in approx equal sized groups from two or three
directions.
STATUS: Scenario sketcch. Was waiting for time delay for jump
capability, but that was finalized a while ago.

SoS-5: Neptune Face Off
NSL-KV +Phalon (3 players)
Evenly matched NSL and KV forces (~1500 NPV) start within 50 mu of each
other (coming in from 3 and 9
Phalon group (~500 NPV) start at 50 mu from their barycenter coming in
from 12. Phalon decides which side to join, or waits to take on the
winner.
Possible space terrain (Planet Neptune)
I'm not quite sure how to work this one yet
STATUS: Awaiting development of Planets for Space terrain.

SoS-6: Counterstrike (2 players)
NI-KV
NI strike force attempts to take out a KV command capital. Meeting
engagement. Forces start on converging course with headings 8 and 10,
speed 12. About 50 mu apart.
KV 3000 NPV led by Yu'Kas (if fighters are not ready, sub in
appropriate armament. Destroy/ drive off attackers.
NI 3000 NPV - Sabras, Yerushalayims, Macabees - Destroy Yu'Kas and get
out with as many assets as possible.
There will probably be two versions of this scenario. One with the
GZG-sanctioned Alpha test version of NI, one with the NIFT-Stealth
version
STATUS: One version completed, but never added to scenario list.
Probably needs updating to current Beta-test NI designs. Could have
alternates designed for other human powers.

SoS-7: Battle of Titan - (2 - 8 players 4xKV, 4x Human)
Each group has ~2000 NPV
Human groups are UNSC, NI, IJN, and NAC
KV setup in 4 squads. Straight up, head- on fight. Need some alternate
KV designs to mix up KV feel for different "houses"
Possible space terrain Titan and/or Saturn.
STATUS: Playtested a version at ECC IX. Could use some space terrain,
but not necessary. Large KV forces recommend alternative KV designs
for variety.

SoS-8: Battle for Mars (2 - 12 players)
Each group has 3000 NPV
Human Groups are UNSCx2, NAC, NSL, ESU, FSE
KV: 6 groups
STATUS: Could use Mars space terrain, but not needed. KV variety needed.

SoS-9: Wolves at the Door: CISLunar Attack (2 - 20 players)
Each group has 3000 NPV
KV: 10 groups
Human: UNSC, NAC, ESU, FSE, NSL, NI, PAU, IF, ORC, IJN
STATUS: Could use Earth/Moon space terrain, but not needed. KV
variety needed. This was my version of the Siege of Sol's Battle of
the Line.

One of the nagging issues of the large scenarios is getting unique
and non-stupi names for such a large number of ships - especially the
KV.
