Full Thrust Java test list -- February 2006
Game 939 - Questions and Feature Requests.
Just playing about with the interface, and learning about these new weapons
that I'd not seen before. (This is the Human Captain weapon test scenario
with fixed bot targets)
So I've a few questions about mechanics of the game engine, and a couple of
feature requests.
I purposefully caused one of my ships to be caught in the explosion of my
own AMT. (captain must be drunk or something)
This caused 7 damage, and 2 threshold checks.
Question 1: Are 2 separate threshold checks made, or one with a +1 to the die
roll (the second is what I expected)?
Resulting feature request: Ensure that this is clear in the ship log.
Feature request: Can the threshold check failures be included in the ship log?
The results of the threshold checks appear to have damaged an AMT launcher, and
destroyed the FCS.
Question 2: Is the destruction of the FCS a bug, or a feature?
I like the ability of the star map to right-click on a unit and change the
various weapon/movement overlays, but the behaviour seems a bit random...
"Plot Envelope", "Ghost Trail" and "Ghost Plot" all toggle the display of
that item for that object... "Sensors" and the weapon overlays are only
allowed one on at a time (which is fine) - but if you select the overlay that
is currently active, it does not toggle off (the only ways I have found to
clear this is to a) clear, b) clear for the ship, c) set an "arc" display, then
clear -that-)
In a busy battle, it might be nice to also toggle the ship name label, and the
little health bar.
Last point, when I engaged the enemy fighters in a dogfight - I scored 11 kills
and he scored 9. Whilst within the bounds of possibility, I thought I'd
highlight it in case there was a) a mechanic I didn't realise was in place
[are there rerolls on 6's in the fighter dogfight?] or b) everyone else
was getting "higher than expected" results from dogfights.
Final feature request: Would it be possible to include dice rolls in the
ship logs (or in the turn log), possibly as a turn-by-turn option?
