Full Thrust Java test list -- December 2005
Re: Quiet List
It has been quiet.
Let me give you an update for the coding status.
Tony and I are working on the fighter launch, recovery,
and rearm code.
He's put most of the implementation in place and I'm
working on the user interface at the client level.
Jon Tuffley posted these rules to the GZG-test list
on 12/9/2004.
------------------------------------------------------------
LAUNCHING AND RECOVERING FIGHTERS:
When a fighter group is launched from its carrying ship, the
ship may not apply any drive thrust that turn. The ship
performs its movement (straight ahead at its current velocity),
then the fighter group(s) being launched are placed up to
6mu away from the carrier ship, anywhere within it's
frontal 180 degree arc (ie: in the FP/F/FS arcs). The
newly-launched fighter groups may then be moved normally
in the SECOND fighter movement phase which immediately
follows the ship movement.
To RECOVER fighter groups, the carrier ship may again not
apply any drive thrust that turn. In the FIRST fighter
movement phase, the fighter group(s) to be recovered may
move normally, to the position that the carrier will be
in after its movement. The carrier ship is then moved in
accordance with its present course and velocity during
the ship movement phase. In the SECOND fighter movement
phase, provided the fighter group(s) are within 6mu of the
carrier (in any arc) then they may be recovered by the
carrier - this is IN PLACE of the fighter's actual second
move; if the fighters have misjudged their rendezvous with
the carrier and are more than 6mu away from it, they may
NOT take their second move and then still be recovered in
the same turn.
Any fighter-carrying ship may launch and recover up to its
full complement of fighter groups in a single turn, subject
to availability of serviceable fighters on board, and the
availability of empty bays for recovery; it may NOT perform
both launch and recovery operations in the same game turn.
------------------------------------------------------------
I'm thinking that the launched fighters will be automatically
assigned to screen the carrier in the first turn of launch.
After that turn, they can move and attack normally.
