Game 736 Over, and SoS: 6 AAR
Unless I hear from Corb, I think I should call an end to game 736,
which was a playtest of Siege of Sol 6: Counterstrike. NI(stealth)
vs. KV.
This "historical" version of the conflict saw a total victory for the
Humans. The Human objective was to destroy the SDN Yu'Tas, arriving
as a new flagship for one of the Siege battlefronts, and escape with
as many ships as possible.
In a combination of maneuver and luck, the closing forces brought the
NI within 20-24 MU of the target SDN on turn 2, where pretty much all
F weapons could bear on the Yu'Tas, and no KV could return fire. Turn
3 saw an overflight of the two forces that kept the NI almost
completely out of KV front arcs even though all ships ended in a <15
MU diameter area. This was another combination of maneuver and luck.
A couple KV Frigates in side arcs got nailed, and Yu'Tas took a third
threshold and lost half its drive. Both forces circled, but Turn 6
saw the KV SDN destroyed, and NI with good velocity and heading to
escape.
Endgame is on Turn 9. NI FTL drives won't be on line until after turn
10, but they have higher velocity and minimum 56 MU range from the KV
and will be able to FTL without danger.
End game:
NI
2xBB - each with light damage
2xCH - OK
4xCE - 1 with light damage
1xFH - OK (this ship had virtually no effect on the game and will be
eliminated)
KV
SDN Destroyed
2xBC - 1 OK, 1 Moderate
2xCE - OK
2xCL - 1 OK, 1Destroyed
1xDH - Destroyed
3xFH - 2 Destroyed, 1 Moderate
1xFG - Destroyed
The results look horribly lopsided, due almost entirely to the
positions at the end of turns 2 and 3. The head-on pass could not
have gone better for NI.
I doubt re-plays of this game will fair as well for New Israel, since
the weapon superiority envelope is so narrow, and the KV are
maneuverable enough to have some significant control over the closing
distances (and sniping from >24 MU won't allow victory by the time
the KV can FTL away after turn 5).
SoS6 is not yet available via web signup, but I can send it to the
server for other people if there are interested pairs of players.
