That is quite a weakness in the design.  It makes the ship extremely 
vulnerable to anything more maneuverable than the BDN (which is almost 
anything, since the ship has a thrust of 2).

Still it does kinda give it some flavor.  Head on charge only, like the 
Samurai of old! :)
