Full Thrust Java test list -- June 2005
Game 667 has finished
Scenario Inpost
Complete (and overwhelming) victory to the Kravak (my brother). Final
score, by the end of turn 5, was:
Kravak:
1 dead FH
1 critically hurt FH
1 critically hurt DH
1 DH and 2 FH unhurt
NI:
2 dead FF
3 dead CT
1 asteroid base lost 1st threshold and (1st level of stealth) but
everything else working
conceded
which doesn't sound as bad as it did at the end of turn 1 when my first
two ships were destroyed.
I fear I'm in bad need of guidance on how to do better in this scenario
(apart from not making silly mistakes, and Bruce not being quite as good
at working out exactly in which direction to point his K-guns).
The way I see it, The NI's advantages are their stealth, wider fire arcs
and their additional initial movement turn. The Kravak out-gun them,
have more hull points, have better range and better manoeverability. My
attempts to avoid the kravak's fire arcs were almost all pretty
fruitless, and the only time I managed to successfully use the stealth
was the penultimate turn when the Kravak ships all shot at my final
corvette and missed, presumably because of the reduced range bands, the
downside to that, of course, was that none of them were in range of the
corvette... I strikes me that stealth is generally more useful against
shorter range weapons and in scenarios where the different teams start
further apart. Any thoughts?
What have other people done on their initial free turn? I split to two
groups and turned like crazy in the hope of getting into the sweet spot
where the Kravak were in my range band 1 but I was in their range band
2. In hind sight the split was a silly move as it close to doubled the
chances of being in the Kravak fire arcs.
